Train Smoke Grenade Spots

Like de_nuke, de_train doesn’t have many trick smokes you can throw. You can smoke off CT Mid from T spawn with this smoke:

Other than that, smoking upper and lower at B, and smoking both crow’s nests when retaking A are all viable uses. There are so many things to bounce smokes off, there is little point in running through a set position when there are 20 other variations that will get the same result. Anyway, if you have read through the other smoke grenade advice posts you should have some idea of why and when to use smokes – and that’s really more useful than knowing a handful of dedicated throws.






Nuke Smoke Grenade Spots

As de_nuke is more of an inside map, there really aren’t that many clever smokes you can throw. Smokes are definitely still useful, just there aren’t many tricks to using them – if you have even a basic grasp of how to throw a smoke grenade, then you will be able to use the  environment to bounce smokes into whatever section of the map you want.  There are still a few that I will put up though.


Outside / Garage

If, as a CT, you need to smoke of Outside, then throw this grenade and it will activate by the time you reach it, allowing you to either push round to T spawn (if thats what your strat involves), or slow down any outside rush.

On the other hand, if you are playing as T and want to smoke out the Garage so you can push outside, then throw this smoke:

This will allow you to get really close to garage/ct red without being picked.



Other good smokes to throw are these two, which can be used to completely cover a ramp rush as T.

First throw this one, and let it activate

Then, carefully walk into this smoke grenade and look out across the room. You won’t be able to see anything other than some of the wall lights. You can use these to line up another smoke grenade that will block off the lower ladder room.

With these two smokes down your team can now rush ramp and not worry about a couple of extra places they might get picked from. If you take control of the ramp room you can then either rush down into B site, or work you way round to A if you have good numbers.


That’s all for de_nuke. Like I said at the beginning, there is plenty of opportunity for using smokes on this map (smoking squeaky and rushing down vents, for example), however, they are so easy to set up, and are really just common sense, that I didn’t think it would be worth it to upload 20+ photos detailing exactly what position is necessary.








Inferno Smoke Grenade Spots

Here I will demonstrate a few smokes you can use on de_inferno. Mostly these are useful for the Terrorists pushing into the bombsites.


T’s can throw this smoke once they have pushed up Banana to block off CT Spawn, making it easier to plant the bomb and defend.

And CT’s can slow down a Banana rush by throwing this smoke:

Aim for the wooden shutters


Mid to A

These next 3 smokes can all be used in sequence to make a fast A rush. If timed right, and positioned correctly, the T’s should be able to push round both sides of the bombsite before the CT’s even get a look at them.

Aim parallel with the rods sticking out of the gas lamp, and about center with the window on the pink buidling.

With this smoke, you can push up to Mid, whilst 2 more of your team throw the following smokes:

Stand next to the wooden door by tunnel and aim just over the aerial.

Now you can storm pit and graveyard without getting picked.

The next smoke blocks of Library and Arch:

Aim just above the apex of this roof.

If thrown correctly this smoke will cover anyone peeking at Arch, and anyone camped in Library or Cubby, allowing you to focus on one spot at a time.

An Alternative to covering pit from Mid is to move through apartments and throw a smoke out of the janitor closet:

Aim for the last window.

One final smoke that the T’s could use for this push is this one, where you smoke off the window room in CT apartments:

Stand on the balcony at Alt Mid and aim for the window, keeping your crosshair level with the mountain range in the backdrop.

CT’s Retaking A

So after T’s push A, if the CT’s are rotating through CT Spawn then they can use these smokes to make it easier to retake the bombsite:

Stand in the doorway and aim just above the truck

These smokes will force any T’s out of pit. If you are lucky you could try for a defuse in the smoke. Note that these smokes only work if the CT’s have control of Arch/Library. If they don’t, or if they are rotating through Mid, then they can throw the same smokes as the T’s did when rushing the site, to block of pit/arch.
